About IMSE4136@HKU

IMSE 4136 is the course to offer students a broad understanding of the functionality and underlying principles of transportation and distribution planning and the techniques to analyze the related operations and issues. The main aims are to study the evolution of transportation and distribution, understand the tradeoffs of alternatives, and apply qualitative and quantitative tools to tackle practical problems. 

During the course, students will appreciate the critical role that transportation and distribution planning plays in modern economies, be able to analyze and build models for planning problems, and be able to obtain solutions to the models using appropriate optimization techniques.

I am holding three tutorial sessions this spring term: Transshipment Problem, Shortest Path Problem, and Vehicle Route Problem.  Slides and Practice Answers will be uploaded on moodle and my homepage after the session.

You have to master the basic opreation research knowledge. Luckily, I have been the TA for IMSE2134 as well check more at here.

Here are some small recommendations:

1. Read books and Slides.

(The most important one!!!)

2. Do Your Homeworks On Time.

3. Search by yourself and ask TA for help.

4. Please Join our tutorial !!! Those exercises are pretty helpful!
