Hi, I am Aoran, a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Data and System Engineering (https://www.dase.hku.hk/ ) at the University of Hong Kong, advised by Professor Zuo-Jun "Max" Shen (https://shen.ieor.berkeley.edu/) and Professor Yong-Hong Kuo (https://sites.google.com/site/yonghongkuo/home#h.p_ID_38) I finished my undergraduate study at UW-Madison majoring in Applied Math and minoring in Physics. My Ph.D. concentration focuses on Air Drones Firefighting. Part of this work led me to win the best student work award at the 7th International Fire Behavior & Fuel Conference. Framework of this work present at Xiong'An New Area, more than 200,000 people became familiar with our tools through the social media !
I founded Alura AI, a beauty tech company that improves people's facial conditions. I am proud to serve as the Chairman of the 10th HKU IEPGA.

I am interested in anything about smarter firefighting, not only smart quenching, but also fire behavior analysis. For my Ph.D. thesis, I delve into Smart Wild-land Firefighting under the OR/ML framework by Air Drones. Specifically, drones can be used in both Wildfire and Cities Firefighting. On the methodological side, I like developing prescriptive analytics methods converters data with domain knowledge in Wildfire Spreading and Swarms Cooperation to make the final decisions by Mechanism Design and Inverse Optimization methods. I welcome everyone to convey the idea to me. Let us help the community become much better than before.
Outside academia, I am also interested in entrepreneurship. I was the founder and project manager of a startup that provided reliable data references via machine learning methods to help students with college applications.
